Blog 11 Tsunami in Japan

So recently on March 11, 2011 (my stepsister's 16th birthday) a tsunami hit Japan caused by a massive 8.9/9.0 earthquake.  There was a lot of damages and blackouts, fire, and of course the tsunami.  The earthquake triggered the tsunami.  Japan was not ready for this tsunami at all.  Being on the the most prepared countries in the world you'd think that they had some clue, but they were completely clueless.  Japanese police say that the death toll tops 9,811 as of right now and that 17,541 are still missing.  Police are devastated to find so many people and aren't looking forward to finding more.  The tsunami hit other places like Hawaii, and set off warnings throughout the Pacific, including South America, Canada, Alaska, and the U.S., such as the Oregon coast.  No one was prepared for all of this and it's very devastating to find out.
